Today I’m starting off my first ever blog post, by showing you a glimpse into my new neighborhood and home of Pimlico! Pimlico is a borough (district) of London located just south of Buckingham Palace, right in the heart of the city next to the river Thames. This area is a family friendly town that is known to be residential and rather peaceful. My husband and I just moved into the apartment development of Dolphin Square that is full of history (Winston Churchill once lived here!) and includes a beautiful garden courtyard.
We have only been here a week, and so far we have absolutely LOVED living here. The apartment is cozy, and we have many amenities including a fitness center, indoor pool, and even a little restaurant called the Dolphin Bar & Grill. In addition to the amenities we also have weekly maid service! It’s safe to say that we have transitioned very well into our new living situation and feel a little spoiled.
Not only is our apartment “brilliant” (as British folk say), but so is the surrounding town and city of Pimlico. I am continually amazed at the cleanliness of the area and beauty of the residences here. Little Cafes and markets line the streets, and we have been very fortunate to have the Pimlico tube stop within short walking distance from our flat. St. Gabriel’s Church is on the corner of the downtown, and it is quite beautiful to walk past on our way into the city. My favorite thing about Pimlico though has to be the people. Every single day I am greeted with a smile and a hello from complete strangers. The people here are all just SO NICE, and it is so pleasant and refreshing to encounter that British charm everyday.
Can you tell that I love it here? My husband and I feel so lucky that we get to reside in Pimlico and truly soak up the experience of living in London for the next few months. We have many other things we want to do in London, as well as the rest of Europe! We have a few destinations already booked and planned within the next few weeks, so stay tuned for all the posts to come. Each week I hope to showcase all that London has to offer, as well as the different trips we take around Europe.
Well, that was just a little taste of The Savvy Suitcase. Thank you so much for stopping by!
